Automatic Bathroom Light with Back up Lamp Circuit Diagram

Image
Sometimes we forget to switch off the bathroom light and it remains on unnoticed for long periods. This circuit solves the problem of electricity wastage by switching off the lamp automatically after 30 minutes once it is switched on. The back-up LED lamp provided in the circuit turns on for three minutes when mains fails. This is helpful especially when you are taking a shower at night. The circuit is built around binary counter CD4060 (IC2), which has a built-in oscillator and 14 cascaded bistable multivibrators. The oscillator generates clock pulses based on the values of resistors R3 and R4 and capacitor C3. Automatic Bathroom Light with Back-up Lamp Circuit Diagram   For the given values, Q11 output of IC2 goes high after 30 minutes of power-on. Resistor R2 resets the IC for proper operation. The output of IC2 is fed to the gate of the SCR via resistor R6 and LED2, which function as a voltage dropper as well as output status indicator. When the SCR gets gate drive, it fires to...

Simple Gas Smoke Detector Circuit Diagram

Image
This is the Simple Gas Smoke Detector Circuit Diagram. In the presence of smoke or gas, the ac output voltage increases and becomes rectified, filtered and zener-diode coupled (D2 for thresholding) to sensitivity control R3. Under no gas condition, the output equals approximately 0 V (high). When gas is present, the output will be a negative value (low) sufficient to overcome the threshold of MeMOS gate 2 and D2.  Simple Gas Smoke Detector Circuit Diagram   The circuit shown uses a TGS 308 sensor, a generalpurpose gas detector that is not sensitive to smoke or carbon monoxide. If smoke is the primary element to be detected, use the TGS 202 sensor. The two sensors are basically identical; the main differences lie in the heater voltage and the required warm up time delay. The TGS requires a 1.2 V heater and a 2 minute delay, whereas the TGS 202 requires 1.5 V and 5 minutes, respectively.  The system uses a MeMOS gated oscillator directly interfacing with a triac-contr...

3V LED Chaser Circuit Diagram

Image
There are many 9V chaser circuits that seem to waste about 7V when driving LEDs that are only about 2V. This project is unique, because it uses only two inexpensive alkaline battery cells totaling 3V for power. Since most of the waste is eliminated, the cells last a long time.    Unlike the other circuits, this one flashes the LEDs for only about 30ms each, further extending the battery life. For user convenience, it has a stepper speed control and a brightness control. At slower speeds and with reduced brightness, the battery life is further extended considerably. Mounted in a circle, the LEDs appear to rotate as they step from one to the next. Specifications • Battery: Two alkaline cells (AA size were used in the prototype) • Battery Life: AA cells C cells D cells Minimum speed and brightness 8 months 2 years 4.9 years Medium speed and brightness 6 months 1.5 years 3.6 years Maximum speed and brightness 2 weeks 1.5 months 3.6 months • Stepper speed: 2 LEDs/sec to...

Low cost Pump Controller Circuit Diagram

Image
This simple but effective circuit can be used to control water level in a container. The prototype is used to pump water out of a bucket that collects condensation from a home air-conditioning system. The design is based around a 555 timer (IC1). Although the timer in configured as a mono-stable, it lacks the usual timing capacitor from pin 6 to ground. Instead, a metal probe inserted in the water provides a current path to a second, grounded probe. When the water level in the container reaches a third ("high") probe, the trigger input (pin 3) is pulled low, switching the 555 output high and energizing the relay via transistor Q1. Circuit diagram:   Cheap Pump Controller Circuit Diagram Once the water level drops below the "low" probe, the threshold input (pin 6) swings high, switching the output (pin 3) low and the relay and pump off. The two 100kΩ pull-up resistors can be replaced with larger values if more sensitivity is required (eg, if the 555 doesn’t trigger)....

High Quality Intercom Circuit Diagram

Image
Description: A very high quality intercom, which may also be used for room monitoring. Circuit diagram Notes: This circuit consists of two identical intercom units. Each unit contains a power supply, microphone preamplifier, audio amplifier and a Push To Talk (PTT) relay circuit. Only 2 wires are required to connect the units together. Due to the low output impedance of the mic preamp, screened cable is not necessary and ordinary 2 core speaker cable, or bell wire may be used. The schematic can be broken into 34 parts, power supply, mic preamp, audio amplifierand PTT circuit. The power supply is designed to be left on all the time, which is why no on / off switch is provided. A standard 12 V RMS secondary transformer of 12VA will power the unit. Fuses are provided at the primary input and also secondary, before the rectifier. The 1 A fuse needs to be a slow blow type as it has to handle the peak rectifier current as the power supply electrolytics charge from zero volts. The microphone...

Simple Accurate Foot Switch Circuit Diagram

Image
Certain industrial controls require accurate switching operations. For example, in case of a foot-switch for precise drilling work, even a small error in switching may cause considerable loss. This low-cost but accurate foot-operated switch can prevent that. IC NE555 is wired in one-shot mode. Its output pin 3 goes high only when both switches S1 and S2 are pressed simultaneously. You can release any one of the switches without changing the output state. When you release both the switches, the output goes low. Simple Accurate Foot-Switch Circuit Diagram The switches are placed under a foot paddle as shown in Fig. 2. LED1 is used as a warning indicator. If either S1 or S2 gets pressed erroneously, LED1 blinks to warn the operator. The operator can then withdraw his foot in case of a mistake or depress the other switch also to trigger the circuit. LED1 is to be mounted on the operator’s desk. The circuit operation is simple. Resistors R2, R3 and R4 form a voltage divider. IC NE555 has tw...

500W Low Cost 12V to 220V Inverter Circuit Diagram

Image
This is simple project of 500W Low Cost 12V to 220V Inverter Circuit Diagram. Note : This Circuit is using high voltage that is lethal. Please take appropriate precautions. Using this circuit you can convert the 12V dc in to the 220V Ac. In this circuit 4047 is use to generate the square wave of 50hz and amplify the current and then amplify the voltage by using the step transformer. How to calculate transformer rating. 500W Low Cost 12V to 220V Inverter Circuit Diagram . The basic formula is P=VI and between input output of the transformer we have Power input = Power output For example if we want a 220W output at 220V then we need 1A at the output. Then at the input we must have at least 18.3V at 12V because: 12V*18.3 = 220v*1 So you have to wind the step up transformer 12v to 220v but input winding must be capable to bear 20A.

USB Powered Audio Power Amplifier Circuit Diagram

Image
This USB Powered Audio Power Amplifier Circuit Diagram of multimedia speakers for PCs has single-chip-based design, low-voltage power supply, compatibility with USB power, easy heat-sinking, low cost, high flexibility and wide temperature tolerance. At the heart of the circuit is IC TDA2822M. This IC is, in fact, mono-lithic type in 8-lead mini DIP package. It is intended for use as a dual audio power amplifier in battery-powered sound players. Specifications of TDA2822M are low quiescent current, low crossover distortion, supply voltage down to 1.8 volts and minimum output power of around 450 mW/channel with 4-ohm loudspeaker at 5V DC supply input.  An ideal power amplifier can be simply defined as a circuit that can deliver audio power into external loads without generating significant signal distortion and without consuming excessive quiescent current. This circuit is powered by 5V DC supply available from the USB port of the PC. When power switch S1 is flipped to ‘on’ position...

Rolling Shutter Motor Control Circuit Diagram

Image
Rolling Shutter Motor Control Circuit. An electrically operated rolling shutter usually has a standard control panel with a three-position switch: up, down and stop. If you would like to automate the opening and closing with a time controlled switch, a few additional wires will have to be connected. Typically, the controls are implemented as indicated in the schematic ‘Normal Situation’. If this is indeed the case, then you can see in ‘New Situation’ how the shutter can be automated with a timer. There is only one method to determine the actual schematic of your control circuit, and that is to open the control box and using an ohmmeter, pencil and paper to check out and draw the circuit. Make sure you turn the power off first though! Connect a 230-V relay (with both the contacts and the coil rated 230 VAC) to the timer.  Rolling Shutter Motor Control Circuit   The changeover switch between automatic and manual control needs to be rated 230 VAC as well and may not be a haz...

This is the ic based Audio Power Amplifier Circuit Diagram. The LM383 is an audio-power amplifier that is capable of producing up to 8 W of audio output. R1 is essentially a load resistor for the hand-held transceiver`s audio output. R2 can be composed of two fixed resistors in a 10:1 divider arrangement, but using a potentiometer makes it easy to set the amplifier`s maximum gain.   Audio Power Amplifier Circuit Diagram When powered from a vehicle`s electrical system, the amplifier`s +12V power source requires filter L1 to eliminate alternator whine. The LM383 can ·be mounted directly on the heatsink because the mounting tab is at ground potential.

Rain and Water Alarm Circuit Diagram

Image
This is the circuit diagram of Rain and Water Alarm circuit . This circuit generates alarm sound when its sensor is witted by water which make a short circuit (connection) between X and Y. A tone of about 1kHz which can be hear while detecting water, is provided by a stable multivariate from timer IC 555. The sensor when witted by water completes the circuit and causes the 555 oscillate at about 1kHz. It has to placed generating an angle of about 30 – 45 degrees to the ground. This tends to make the rain water to flow over it towards the ground and prevents the alarm from going on because of the stored water on top of the sensor. The metal implemented for making the sensor is required to be aluminum and not copper. This is simply because copper forms a blue oxide on its layer on prolonged exposure to moisture and needs to be cleaned on a regular basis. The aluminum foils may be secured to the wooden / plastic board via epoxy adhesive or small screws. The connection between X and Y fro...

Simple FM Transmitter Circuit Diagram

Image
Build a Simple FM Transmitter Circuit Diagram . This FM transmitter is about the simplest and most basic FM transmitter it is possible to build and have a useful transmitting range. It is surprisingly powerful despite its small component count and 3V operating voltage. It will easily penetrate over three floors of an apartment building and go over 300 meters in the open air. The circuit we use is based on a proven Australian design. It may be tuned anywhere in the FM band. Or it may be tuned outside the commercial M band for greater privacy. (Of course this means you must modify your FM radio to be able to receive the transmission or have a broad-band FM receiver.)  The output power of this FM Tx is below the legal limits of many countries (eg, USA and Australia). However, some countries may ban ALL wireless transmissions without a license. It is the responsibility of the builder to check the legal requirements for the operation of this circuit and to obey them.   Simple...

Simple Multicell Charger Circuit Diagram

Image
Using this charger, you can safely charge up to two pieces of Ni-Cd cells or Ni-MH cells. The circuit is compact, inexpensive and easy-to-use.The 230V AC mains is down-converted to 12V AC (at 500 mA) by step-down transformer X1, converted into pulsating DC voltage by diodes D1 and D2, and fed to the battery charger terminals via current-limiting resistor R1 and silicon-controlled rectifier SCR1. SCR1 is at the heart of the charger. Normally, it conducts due to the gate biasing voltage available through resistor R2 and diode D3, and the battery is in charging mode, which is indicated by LED1. Resistor R2 limits the charging current to a safe value. Charging current of this circuit is about 250 mA.  Simple Multicell Charger Circuit Diagram When the battery reaches full charge, SCR2 conducts to pull down the gate of SCR1. This state is indicated by LED2. Now remove the cells from the charger. Normally, Ni-Cd cell with a rating of 500 mAH will take around 2.5 hours to reach full charge...
