Digital Voltmeter and Ammeter Circuit Module

Image
This V/I display module is eminently suitable for building into an existing DC power supply, where it gives a precise indication of the set voltage or the current consumption of the load. In the voltage range, the decimal point lights on LD3, and the resolution is therefore 100 mV Two current ranges are possible: 0-9.99 A (link a) or 0-0.999 (.999) A (link b). The 3-digit readout is based on A/D converter Type CA3l62 and BCD-to-7 segment decoder Type CA3l6l, both from RCA. The resulting small negative deviation in the volt- age range is compensated by P2. These points should be adjusted in the above order. Two presets, P1 and P3, are required to ensure correct nulling of the module. P1 compensates for the quiescent current consumption of the regulator circuit in the supply. When voltage measurement is selected, P4-R1 attenuates the input voltage by a factor 100. Also, point D is pulled low so that the decimal point on the LS display, and the The current sensing resistor is theref...

Simple Voltmeter Circuit

his circuit provides a simple means to determine the voltage of a low-impedance voltage source. It works as follows. P1, which is a 1-W potentiometer, forms a voltage divider in combination with R1. The voltage at their junction is buffered by T1, and then passed to reference diode D1 via R3. D1 limits the voltage following the resistor to 2.5 V. An indicator stage consisting of T2, R4 and LED D2 is connected in parallel with D1. As long as the voltage is not limited by D1, the LED will not be fully illuminated. This is the basic operating principle of this measurement circuit.

Car Battery Voltmeter with LED Indicator

The circuit was developed to create a voltmeter that will be used to test car batteries while showing an indication using LEDs. Voltmeter – a device or an instrument used for measuring the electrical potential difference between two points of either alternating current or direct current electric circuit. LM324 – has internal frequency compensated for unity gain, large DC voltage gain, wide bandwidth, wide power supply range, very low supply current drain, low input biasing current, low input offset voltage, large output voltage swing and differential input voltage range equal to the power supply voltage. The voltage of a car battery can be measured with the use of a voltmeter as well as the charge left. A typical car battery voltage delivers around 12.6 V under no load condition and will require charging if the voltage reading is at 11.6 V. The measurement of voltage is best recommended during a high current like running the car head lights into high beam. In case the battery rapidly d...

Ultra voltmeter and Voltage sensing Circuit Diagram

This is a circuit that detects tesões 1.8 V up to 230 Volts AC or DC. This circuit is not a novelty, but it proved so useful, simple and cheap that every technician should have one on the bench. When the tip (red) positive is connected to a positive DC voltage and the black lead to the negative, the red LED lights up. Reversing the polarity green LED lights. Connecting the probes to an AC source both LEDs will light. The lamp current is limited to 40mA @ 220V AC LED for illuminating and a filament starts from about 30V, shining more intensely with increasing tension. Therefore, due to the behavior of the lamp filament, any voltage in the range from 1.8 to 230 V can be detected without changing component values.   Ultra voltmeter and Voltage sensing Circuit Diagram   List of Components D1________5 or 3mm. red LED D2________5 or 3mm. Digital Voltmeter Circuit

In this post we learn about a simple 3,1/2 digit digital voltmeter circuit . IC7107 is the most common and economic analog to digital converter available in market. It can convert an analog signal to 3 digit LED display. The displays are seven segment LEDs (8). 7107 has a build in reference and a clock along with seven segment decoder and display driver. The simple connectivity as per the circuit shall ensure a reliable A to D converter worth display. The power supply employed is +5V DC. The input for this particular circuit could be any voltage up to 2000V. It is imperative to mention in this context that the highest displayable voltage is 1999V. The input is being introduced between pin no. 30 & 31 through a parallel rung of resistors namely 10Ω, 1KΩ, 100KΩ, 1MΩ, 10MΩ for selection of ranges of 200mV, 2V, 20V, 200V and 2000V. A push to on switch is connected between +5 V DC and pin no. 37 to check the health of all the segments of four displays. The resistor used h...

Powerline Voltmeter

Here’s a rather special voltmeter that will let you measure the AC grid voltage and also see very accurately how it fluctuates around its nominal value. The voltmeter has a measuring range of around 35 V that you can centre around the nominal voltage from the grid.  The circuit uses a bridge supplied at low voltage to make it easier to implement. The voltage available at TR1 secondary, which reflects the mains voltage multiplied by the transformer ratio (fixed and constant), is rectified by D1, filtered by C1, and stabilized at 12 V by D5. This same voltage is also rectified by D2, but this time is not stabilized and is only slightly filtered by C2 so that the circuit remains responsive. Given the value of R3, R4, and P2, the voltage at the junction of R3 and R4 can be adjusted to 12 V when the mains is at its nominal value. Any increase or decrease in it will then vary the voltage at this point and change the reading of meter M1 accordingly. Powerline Voltmeter Circuit Diagram: T...

Simple Sensitive RF Voltmeter Circuit Diagram

This is the Simple Sensitive RF Voltmeter Circuit Diagram. This schematic shows a peak-reading diode voltmeter driven by two stages of amplification. A 100-ILF capacitor provides a fairly large time constant, which results in satisfactory meter damping.    Simple Sensitive RF Voltmeter Circuit Diagram The limited differential output voltage coupled with an overdamped meter prevents most needle pinning when you select an incorrect range position, or make other errors. An SPST toggle switch selects additional series resistance. This X2 function gives some more overlap of the sensitivity ranges. The resistance values shown are correct for use with a 100-!LA meter with 1500-0 internal resistance.
